About

I paint because I love it, simple as that. There are always new challenges, and I  can get lost in my imagination and come back with something tangible to share.  I began painting in 2002 after wrist surgery. My mom gave me a paint set to keep me occupied through my recovery, and 15 years later I'm still occupied.

My early work was done on paper and focused on architecture and nature. While I love the transparency of watercolor the traditional thin and whimsy watercolor style is not my cup of tea. I set out to find my own style using deep color and strong forced perspective.

In 2007 I painted a snare drum for a local builder and never looked back. Wood grain explodes with color when finished with lacquer giving it an almost 3D effect when viewed  in the light. Paper looked dull and lifeless next to the wood, my love was found.
